Trouble with your brakes?

A common problem that we seem to have with brakes is the rotors warping.

This has been adressed in a TSB that states that the lug nuts on the wheels should be torqued at 85-105 ft-lbs. Any more torque can cause shimmies and cause the rotors to warp faster than normal. Most tire stores use air guns that can torque to well over 350 ft/lbs. (bad!!!)


On the other hand many people feel that Ford's rotors just suck. Replacing them with a higher quality rotor may be a better option than trading them back to Ford or getting them turned. One brand that I have seen recommended is Bendix. Getting better brake pads may also be an option but I have not found any carbon metalic or carbon-Kevlar pads to fit the mark.
